The BeppoSAX Science Data Center.
Abstract
The BeppoSAX Science Data Center (SDC) is a facility of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) dedicated to the support of all scientific matters of the BeppoSAX mission. The SDC is the main interface between the project and the general astronomical community. It is co-located with the mission control center in Rome. The SDC is responsible for the mission planning, the distribution of data and of analysis software. In addition it provides several on-line (WWW) tools to facilitate the submission of observation of proposals and the analysis of BeppoSAX data. Such tools include a X-ray image (and events) simulator and an astronomical catalog browser that gives access to more than 130 catalogs. This paper briefly describes the main characteristics of the SDC and the most important services provided. Some considerations on future developments such as the on-line SDC science archive and WWW access to quick look data are also presented.
